Samuel Van de Velde .

Samuel Van de Velde was born in Belsele on the 23th of January 1998. He is the youngest son of a family of 4 brothers who are all musicians. Like his brothers, he began playing the piano at the age of six.

 

Soon he proved to have a special talent and Samuel was doing very well at several competitions. He became first laureate of Cantabile (2x), the National Piano Competition Cavatine in Namur. He also obtained the second and third price at the Rotary Breughel Competition.

 

At the age of 10, he was admit to enter the class of Abdel Rahman El Bacha and Dimitris Saroglou in the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. There, he followed masterclasses with Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden and Dimitri Bashkirov. In 2010, he was invited to play as soloist a concerto of Mozart with the symphonic youth orchestra of Limburg and in 2012 he played the 2nd pianoconcerto of Dmitiri Sjostakovitch in the Blue Hall of the Singel in Antwerp. In 2015, he won the first price of the Belfius-Classics Competition wherefore he performed the 1st pianoconcerto of Franz Liszt in la Monnaie, together with the orchestra ‘Prima la Musica’.

At the moment, he studies with Jan Michiels at the conservatory of Brussels and with Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden at the school Eduardo Del Pueyo. Samuel often plays chamber music together with his brothers.
